Exercise 5: Job Tags and Tag Manager

Objective

To add Tags to jobs so that filtering in the Processes screen can occur.

Summary

Tag the first three Jobs in MY FIRST SCHEDULE with the following Tags:

  • CRITICAL
  • GENERICP

Once the Jobs are tagged, view the Tag assignments in Tags.

Instructions

Job Tags

  1. In Solution Manager, select Library.
  2. In Library > Management, select Tags.
  3. Click the Add button.

In the Tags screen:

  1. In the Tag Name box, type CRITICAL.
  2. Click the Filter tab.
  3. Click the > button next to My First Schedule.
  4. Select Windows Job 1, Windows Job 2, and Windows Job 3.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 3-8 to add a second Tag named GENERICP to the same three jobs.
  7. Close Library.
Note

You can validate what jobs are tagged by selecting that Tag from the list in the left column and review the list that populates on the right-hand side of the screen.

Job Tags

  1. Under the Management topic, double-click on Tag Manager.
  2. Click the Add icon in the upper right-hand corner.

In the Add new Tag screen

  1. In the Enter Tag Name type CRITICAL.
  2. Click the Filter button under the Schedule and Job boxes.
  3. Select the Deselect All button in the Available Jobs section
  4. Click the > button next to My First Schedule.
  5. Select Windows Job 1, Windows Job 2, and Windows Job 3.
  6. Click Associate Jobs.
  7. Repeat steps 3-8 to add a second Tag named GENERICP to the same three jobs.
  8. Close the Tag Manager.
Note

You can validate what jobs are tagged by selecting that Tag from the list of tags in Tags and reviewing the list that populates to the right of the list of Tags.
